Physiotherapy is a health care profession which, through various treatments, assists people to restore, maintain and maximize their strength, function, movement, and overall well-being. Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals with a significant role in health promotion and treatment of injury and disease. Physiotherapists work in primary health care to help maximize mobility in response to the needs of patients across the lifespan, ensuring continuity of care for patients and their families. Physiotherapy includes rehabilitation, injury prevention and promotion of health and wellness through quality care.

Physiotherapists have in-depth knowledge of the body and how it works and have specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat symptoms of illness, injury and disability, therefore managing a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery with self-management support through physiotherapy interventions such as exercise prescription. At GC Physiotherapy Ltd, you can expect a thorough active and passive assessment to determine the appropriate treatment for you, which will include an individualized exercise program, manual therapy, soft tissue techniques and modalities.

In the private practice setting physiotherapists treat mostly musculoskeletal conditions including, a broad range of disorders that affect the bones, joints and soft tissues, such as arthritis, trauma, sprain and strains, pre- and post-operative care, sport injuries, low back and neck pain, repetitive strain injuries and assess fall risks/balance to name a few. Physiotherapists assess and treat patients with musculoskeletal conditions in order to reduce and eliminate pain and address muscle weakness, loss of stability and limited functional abilities. Physiotherapy contributes to improved physical function by promoting physical activity, allowing individuals to increase their mobility and function, return to healthy living, including daily activities, return to work and recreational activities.
